The dogs' life in this part of the world is a bit different from the one in Europe. There are lots of stray dogs, not as much as in Bali was, but all the restaurants has one or two "local" dog. They are walking in between the tables, looking at you with their "give me some food, please" eyes, but most probably they are employed by the places as a kitchen-left-over-clearing assistant.
On the roads they behave also differently. They are lying on the middle of the road or going slowly around in the traffic, I cannot imagine how many guardian angels are looking after them.
But there are some adopted dogs, who are going everywhere with their owner. They are travelling by bike!

  1. The dogs seem to be a part of the natural landscape. When Denise and I did our bicycling tour in northern Thailand last year, we would sometimes pass a dog that was sleeping in the middle of the quiet street. We would ride one on each side, and the dog would not even lift up his head to say hello. We enjoy reading about your adventures, and hope you are feeling better soon!
