Canberra: Főváros a bozótban - The Bush Capital
Ausztrália fővárosa Canberra. Nem Sydney, sem Melbourne. Annak idején, úgy döntöttek az ország belsejében, a bozótban, létrehozzák mesterségesen ezt a várost, amit ma 500 ezren laknak. Azt hiszem, nagyon nagy erőfeszítés kellene hozzá, hogy itt éljek. Valahogy hiányzik egy kis meghittség a városképből. Hatalmasak a terek, de nagyon üresek. De lehet csak mi nem találtuk meg, amit kerestünk.
Ami viszont tetszett, a nagy tó a város közepén. A rengeteg bicikli út. A parkok füvén legelésző kengurúk és a körös-körül bóklászó papagájok.
Van egy oszlop park, ami minden oszloppal emléket állít mindazoknak, akik életüket vesztették a tengeren az úton Ausztráliába, ami nekik a megváltást jelentette volna, most nyughelyük...
De a legjobb a tánc volt. Sok ideje már, hogy nem tartottam órát, de Jenny meghívásának köszönhetően újra Phillel együtt dolgozva tanítottam. Nagyon kedves csoport volt, három szett, korban és tapasztalatban is vegyesen, de mindenki nagyon ügyesen vette a táncokat (http://my.strathspey.org/dd/list/14711/). Valaki a végén azt mondta, hogy sikerült elhitetnem velük a legkomplikáltabb táncnál is, hogy ez menni fog nekik és mindenki jól mulatott.
Köszönettel tartozunk Jennynek, hogy lehetővé tette, ezt a nagy élményt, hogy meghívott minket és megszervezte ezt a remek estét. Hihetetlen öröm volt Juliaval is újra találkozni. Milyen vicces, hogy júliusban még csak álmodoztunk erről az útról, mikor Skóciában a Summer Schoolban találkoztam velük, most meg itt vagyunk!
The capital city of Australia is Canberra. Neither Sydney, nor Melbourne. Once they made a decision to establish this city inside the country, in the bush, which has today 500.000 inhabitant. It was giving me such an artificial feeling... I think it would require a special effort from my side to live here. I miss some cosiness from the city. There are huge places, but everything looks very empty. But it may possible that only we didn't find what we were looking for.
What I liked the big lake in the middle of the city. The plenty of cycle paths. The kangaroos grazing on the grass in the parks and the beautiful parrots all around.
There is a remembrance park, where you can see poles standing everywhere. They reminds you all the refugees who lost their life on the way to Australia on the sea. Which would have changed their life, now it is their resting place forever...
But the best thing the dance was. It was a long time since I haven't been teaching, but thanks to Jenny's invitation, I could work with Phill again. It was a lovely group, three sets, mixed in age and experience as well, but everybody was great (http://my.strathspey.org/dd/list/14711/). Somebody was telling me at the end that I managed to let them believe that the most complicated dance as well, just a nice and easy one and everybody had fun.
We thanks to Jenny who made this wonderful experience happen to invite us and organised this special evening. It was such a happy moment to see Julia again. I found this amazing that when I first met with Jenny and Julia in July in the Summer School in St Andrews, we were only dreaming about this trip and now we are here!
