Táncház vasárnap - Sunday Afternoon Ceilidh

Mikor visszatértünk Skóciába tavaly júniusban, bennem volt az a szilárd elhatározás, hogy márpedig beindítunk egy tánccsoportot. Akkor nem gondoltam volna, hogy már augusztusban ez megvalósul. A magyar módszerrel álltam a dologhoz, mert gondoltam, ha ez nekünk otthon működik, akkor itt is fog! Van ugye a keddi rendszeres óránk, de emellett havonta-hat hetente szervezünk vasárnap délutáni táncházakat. Vasárnap az egyedüli nap a héten, amikor nincs tánc és mielőtt bárki a vasárnapi hétfőt nem váró mélabúba esne, az egész családot szeretettel várjuk táncolni. 

Az első alkalommal 14-en voltunk, a legutóbb 58-an!

Burns megkésett születésnapja volt a témája a táncháznak és minden egyszerűen tökéletesen sikerült. Volt lufidekorációnk, amit a legvégén a gyerekek örömmel vittek haza. Dudásunk, Bob, annyira kedves levelet írt mikor kérdeztem, hogy mennyi lesz a díja, közölte az én lelkesedésem a skót tánc népszerűsítésére annyira magával ragadó, hogy ő is részese akar lenni és ingyen eljön és élvezni fogja! Volt Grand March és Gay Gordon dudaszóra, Highland tánc és még én is megpróbálkoztam egy kardtánccal. Les, Bob párja, a legélvezetesebb szavalást adta elő. Amikor egy felfújt gumikesztyűt hozott elő haggis híjján, hogy a lehető legteátrálisabb módon felnyársalja, az egész terem zengett a nevetéstől.

Voltak vendégeink az Edinburghi Gay Gordon klubból, Sunderlandből (Newcastlehez közel), Chris és Violett Wigan/Budapestről, Stirlingből és persze Linlithgowból és Bo'nessből. Nyolc kisgyerek is táncolt velünk.

Kivételesen három zenészünk is volt, Phill mellett Màrtainn és Suz is színpadra lépett.

Olyan élmény volt ez, aminek napokig a hatása alatt voltunk. 

Nagyon sok munka van ebben is, a folyamatos hírdetés, lelkesítés, program tervezés és kivitelezés, emberek mozgatása, tanítás, ismerkedés, beszélgetés, hogy mindenki úgy menjen haza, ez remek volt, ide visszajövök!

When we returned to Scotland last year June I had this very clear decision in my mind, that I will try to start a dance group. I would have never thought that in August it will really happen. I started with the Hungarian way, because I thought if something is working for us at home, then it should work in Scotland as well. There is our usual class on Tuesdays, but beside this in every four-six weeks we are organising our Sunday Afternoon Ceilidh. Sunday is the only day in the week, when there is no dancing and before anyone could fall in the ‘Oh tomorrow is Monday’ blue, we are welcoming the whole family for a joyful dancing.

On our first Ceilidh we had 14 people, the last one we had 58!

Burns belated birthday was the theme of our Ceilidh and I have to say everything was perfect. We had some balloon decoration, which was happily taken home by the kids at the end of the Ceilidh. Our piper, Bob, wrote me such kind email when I asked how much will be his fee for playing for us, he said my enthusiasm is infectious and I deserve to be supported as much as possible in my promotion of Scottish culture. Amazing!! There was Grand March and Gay Gordon to the pipes, Highland dancing and even me tried to present a sword dance. Les, Bob’s Partner, did the best performance I have ever seen on Burns poems. When she brought out on a tray (instead of a real haggis) a blown up plastic glow to cut it through with the most theatrical gesture, the hall venue was loud from laughing.

We had visitors from the Edinburgh Gay Gordon group, from Sunderland (close to Newcastle), Chris and Violett from Wigan/Budapest, from Stirling and of course from Linlithgow and Bo’ness. We had eight little kids as well, who danced with us.

We had three musician, next to Phill Màrtainn and Suz were taking part of playing this so uplifting music.

There are plenty of work in this huge success, the continuous advertising, encouraging, program planning and making it happen, moving the people around, teaching, getting know them, chatting with everybody, so all of them goes home at the end, with the feeling this was great, I will come back here again!
