Lanzarote

A Kanári-szigetek csoportjának negyedik legnagyobb szigetén vagyunk. Ez van legészakabbra és keletebbre, de 1000 km-re vagyunk a spanyol partoktól, Afrikától meg mindössze 125 km-re. Méretre 60km hosszú és 25 km széles, körülbelül 1,5-szerese a Balaton területének. A legmagasabb pont 671 m, fekete vulkanikus táj. Phill mondta a víz alatt is olyan, mint egy hegy, gyorsan mélyül 100 m alá.

150 ezren lakják, többnyire spanyolok, de 5 millióan érkeznek ide évente látogatóba az Örök Tavasz Szigetére.

Február van és a nap már most nagyon süt, napközben 26 fok is van, de árnyékban azért hűvös van. Itt mindig van egy kis szellő, kivéve napnyugta után, ami most hét után van, akkor hirtelen, mintha elvágták volna. Napközben mindenki rövidujjúban, shortban szaladgál, este én mindent magamra veszek zokni, sport cipő, farmer, kabát, sál, de még ekkor is kint ülünk a tengerparti sétány egyik éttermének a teraszán.

Olyan igazi nyaralás hangulata van a városnak, nem siet senki, nem hömpölyög tömeg az utakon, néhány nagyon bátor úszik az óceánban, ami olyan 18 fokos lehet. 

Emlékszem Zsófi, amikor gimnazisták voltunk jött a Kanári-szigetekre, el se tudtam képzelni, milyen lehet! Nekem kicsit olyan volt mindig, mint neki Celabesz. Mindig szerettem volna eljönni. Hihetetlen, hogy most itt vagyunk! Februárban a nyárban! 

És miért Lanzarote? Van itt egy víz alatti múzeum búvároknak, Phill ezt szerette volna megnézni már rég óta. Nem egy egyszerű kiállítás, ahogy a fiúk megfogalmazták volt benne valami hátborzongató. A kiállítás ember nagyságú figurákat mutat, társadalmi problémákat fogalmaz meg, mindezt 30 méterrel a felszín alatt. Gondolom, idő kell nekik, hogy átgondolják a látottakat, de örülök, hogy közösen élték meg Alannel, aki társunk itt a téli nyárban.

We are on the fourth biggest island on the Canary Islands. This is the northernmost and easternmost of the islands, but it is still 620 miles from the Iberian peninsula, but only 78 miles from Africa. North to South the island is 60 km long and 25 km wide, it is approximately double the size of Malta. The highest point is 671 m, it is a black volcanic area. Phill told me under the water it is also like a big mountain, the depth is going quickly down under the ocean a hundred meters.
150 thousand people lives here, mainly Spanish, but 5 million people come to visit every year the 'Island of the Eternal Spring'.
It is February but the Sun is already quite strong. During daytime it can be 26 degree as well, but it is fresh in the shade. There is always a bit of breeze except after sunset, when it feels like that they cut the wind. At daytime everybody is wearing T-shirts and shorts, but in the evenings I wear all of my stuff socks, trainers, jeans, coat, scarf, but we still able to sit out on one of the restaurants terras at the seaside.
The town has a real summer feeling, no-one is in a rush, there is no crowd rolling on the streets, some very brave people are swimming in the ocean, which is around 18 degree.
I remember when I was at my high school, my friend Zsófi was visiting to the Canary Islands and I couldn't have imagined how it looks like. I always wanted to come as well. It is unbelievable that we are here. In February in the summer!

And why we are in Lanzarote? There is an underwater museum for divers and Phill wanted to visit this for a long time. It is not a simple exhibition, how the boys were trying to explain to me it was a bit creepy. The exhibition has human size bodies, showing problems of the society, but everything is 30 m deep in the sea. I think they need a bit of time to analyse what they saw there, but I am pleased that Phill did it with Alan, who is our partner under the Winter Sun.
