Metz - Amiens
Metz, beleszerettünk. Nem tudom, mi az, ami ezt az érzést kiváltja az emberben, mikor egy új helyre érkezünk, de egyszerűen szerelem volt első látásra. Talán a hidak a folyó felett, a villamos (ami később kiderült, hogy busz, de e-villamosnak hívják), a rakéta a városközpontban, a nyugalom, mégis lüktető város, a virágok, platánfák vagy talán egészen más?
A belvárosban volt a szállásunk és életem legkülönlegesebb kinézetű hoteljében szálltunk meg. Nehéz leírni, mert ahogy beléptünk érezted, ennek a helynek történelme van. Mestergerendák a plafonon, egy korabeli ruha kiállítva, nagy kandalló, kacskaringós lépcsőház, zsákszerű anyaggal bevont falak, méz édes illata. Ugyanakkor, néhány dolog fura volt, onladozó vakolat, nagyon 70-es évek stílusú ajtó. Tudod, amit kinyitsz és nem tudod, mi lesz mögötte. De a szobánk nagyon szép volt, kényelmes, de ugyanaz mint lent, nagyon különleges. Az ablakon kinézve láttuk a medencét, meg egy lagúnát, boltíveket, amiken tükör volt, hogy szinte Velencében érezhettük magunkat, érdekes teraszokat, ahova a helyiek székeket tettek ki, hogy élvezhessék a látványt, falfestést, ami egyben szép, egyben nagyon vidám volt. Nem tudom, a képeink visszaadnak-e ebből majd bármit is, de ezt a várost mindenképp érdemes meglátogatni.
Mikor kimentünk sétálni, hogy vacsorát keressünk, már napnyugta felé járt az idő. A városban egy utcai kiállítás volt, rengeteg helyszínnel, nagyon sok ötletes látnivalóval. Itt volt például egy kis kert, ahol nőtt a sokféle zöldség, a rakéta, ami azt szimbolizálta, ha az emberiség kinövi a földet, akkor bizony máshol kell majd új területeket keresnie. A franciák humorérzéke nagyon jó, volt egy Trump fej félig a víbe süllyedve, ami azt mutatta a kezével, hogy minden teljesen rendben. A katedrális arany színben játszott, ahogy a nap ment le. A kiállítássorozathoz kapcsolódóan bizonyos napokon vetítettek a katedrálisra fényjátékot, nagyon sajnáltuk, hogy pont nem azon az estén, amikor ott voltunk. A belváros, szinte teljesen a gyalogosoké, minden téren étteremek, vidám csevegés, igazi nyári hangulat volt. Egy óriási fedett piac is volt, ahol másnap reggeliztünk, én még életemben nem láttam ennyi féle baguettet.
De indulnunk kellett másnap, hogy a következő nap már a vonatunkhoz a csatorna alatt időben odaérjünk. Itt meg kell jegyeznem, hogy Franciaország nem egészen azt adta, amire számítottunk. Benne van az is a dologban, hogy nem voltunk felkészülve és még mindenképp szeretnénk jönni, de erre időt kell szánni, hogy tudjuk, mikor mit hol tudunk megnézni, megkóstolni, megtapasztalni. Amiens azt mondanám egy város volt, a belváros itt is szép volt, de Metz után, nem tudtam rá koncentrálni. Az úton Amiens felé nagyon sok világháborús temető mellett mentünk el, biztos itt voltak a legnagyobb harcok. Megálltunk röviden egy kastélyt megnézni (a kocsiból), de valószínű Párizs közelsége miatt, inkább ott vannak a turisták által látogatható kastélyok.
Még biztos, hogy visszajövünk valamikor Franciaországba, de felkészülve, francia nyelvtudást leporolva és akkor minden remek lesz.
Metz, we fall in love with it. I am not sure what makes this feeling when you visit a new place, but it was love for first sight. Maybe the bridges over the river, the tram (which turned out later it is a bus, but it called e-tram), the rocket in the town centre, the relaxing atmosphere in the pulsating town, the flowers, the sycamore trees or maybe something else?
We stayed in the centre in the funkiest hotel I have ever been. It is hard to describe, how it looked like, once we entered to the hall you felt this place has a history. Beams on the ceiling, a period costume on mannequin, big fireplace, curving staircase, hessian cloth on the walls, the smell is like honey. The same time there were some strange things, wall pieces started to release from the ceiling, doors to the rooms felt like entering to the 70’s. You know that type of doors what you open and you have no clue what is behind. But our room was very nice and comfortable, same as downstairs very unique. Through our window we had a view on the outside pool, and a lagoon, arches, which had mirrors on it, so we felt ourselves in Venice. Many interesting balconies, terraces, where the locals placed chairs to enjoy the view, wall painting which was not just nice but very joyful as well. I am not sure if any of our pictures gives back the feeling of this town, but it is really worth to visit.
Once we went out for a walk to look for dinner it was already sunset time. There was a street exhibition across the town, with lots of very interesting thing to see. They built up a garden just in front of the theater, where they grew lots of different veggies, the rocket, which symbolized once the humans grown out the Earth, we will need to find more areas in the Space. The French people has a very good sense of humor, they put a half way sunk Trump head in the middle of the river, which is showing with its fingers that everything is all right. The cathedral was golden colored while the sun was setting. Part of the exhibition some of the evenings they made a light show projected on the cathedral, unfortunately on our evening it was not on. The inner town was a pedestrian area, every square was full with restaurants, happy chatting all around the places, real summer feeling. There was a big covered market is well, where we had our breakfast the next morning, I have never seen that many types of baguettes before.
But we had to leave this lovely town to head towards the Channel. I have to say that France was not giving us, what we thought it will. I know, we were not prepared, and we really would like to come back another time, but we have to put in some energy and time in advance to know what where and when we can visit, taste, experience.
Amiens I would say it is a city, the inner part was nice here as well, but after Metz I was hardly able to focus on it. On the way to Amiens we saw many world war cemeteries, must be here were the biggest battles. We stopped briefly to view a castle (from our car), but possibly because Paris was very close there are the ones which are more open for tourists.
For sure we will return to France, but prepared, polished our French knowledge and then everything will be alright.
