Fel északnak - Up to the North

A legszebb augusztusi hétvége volt, amikor egy régi álmunkat végre megvalósíthattuk. Az A9-es út meghódítása már hosszú ideje ott volt a bakancslistánkon. Erről az útról azt kell tudni, hogy Grangemouthból indul (ahol dolgozom) és visz fel Skócia északi részére. Ez úgy 400 km, ami csak azt mutatja, hogy a brit fősziget óriási.

Nem tudom említettem már, hogy Phill sokkal jobban szeret körutakat tenni, mint egyenes oda-visszákat, így nagyon kalandosan a Glencoe völgyön keresztül, majd a Loch Ness mellett vezettünk fel Invernessbe. Az út egyszerűen olyan csodás volt, hogy belőlem a legrosszabb turista énem jött elő és a mozgó autóból fotóztam (próbáltam), hogy megörökítsem a tájat. 

Március óta nem voltunk sehol sem, így azért kis szorongással gondoltunk, milyen problémák adódhatnak az utunk során. Hihetetlen hogy ki lehet jönni a gyakorlatból, mi az, amit mindenképp vigyen az ember egy autós kaland túrára. Végül úgy döntöttünk, hogy minimalizáljuk a stresszt, így jó magyar turistához híven viszünk magunkkal ellátmányt a napközbeni szakaszokra, egy szállodát foglalunk Invernessben, ahol két éjszakát töltünk és onnan folytatjuk a nagy északi felfedező túrát.

It was the nicest weekend in August when finally we followed one of our old dreams. Discover the A9 was for a long time on our bucket list. This road starts in Grangemouth (where I have my workplace) and brings you up to the top of Scotland. It is about 260 miles long, which shows me, that Mainland Britain is just huge.

Not sure if I have ever mentioned, that Phill prefers rather loops than straight there and back trips, that is why we we decided to start our adventure in a different route and went through the beautiful Glencoe, next to Loch Ness up to Inverness. The way was so wonderful, that my worst tourist myself was jumping out from me and I took hundreds of photos from the car trying to record probably every single second of the trip.

We have not been anywhere since March so we were a little anxious what kind of challenges we will face on our trip. It is so unbelievable how easy you can get out of practice, how to prepare yourself, what to take with you for a road trip. At the end we decided we try to minimize the stress and act as a good Hungarian tourist and take our food for the day times with us, book only one hotel in Inverness, where we will spend two nights and from there we will continue our discovery of the North.
