Skye szigete - Isle of Skye

Habár hetekkel ezelőtt véget ért az utazásunk, de még mindig annyi mesélni valóm van.

Skye a legnagyobb szigete a Belső Hebridáknak, közel 100 km hosszú, nem egy egynapos kaland, azt hiszem. Minden szeglete egy skót tánc címében köszön vissza. Itt van Broadford Bay, Sgurr Alasdair, Cuillins of Skye, de a híres Sands of Morar is. 2003-ban Zsófival jártunk itt és egy angol barátommal hármasban, amire emlékszem arról az útról, hogy habár midge-k (helyi vérszívó szörnyetegek) repdestek mindenfelé, de maga a táj abszolút lenyűgöző volt. Néha mintha csak a Holdon jártunk volna. 

Zsófira gondoltam, mikor újra megláttam a hídat. Phill sose járt még Skye-on, de a kiltje az skye-i. Mikor terveztük az aznapi kirándulásunkat, mondtam Phillnek, hogy a térképen kinézetem egy rövid körutat a hídhoz legközelebb eső félszigeten, ami három várat is érintett. Erre ő, ez nem rövid. De azért beleegyezett, hogy ezt a kb 80 km-es körutat megtegyük. Az első megállónk Dunsgiath kastély volt, itt egy rövid séta vezetett a romokhoz. Az volt a legjobb, - bár az egész sziget a turizmusra épül, itt szinte nem volt senki, egy másik pár volt mindössze a szirten és szerintem ők is csak belefeledkeztek a gyönyörű kilátásba - hogy kikapcsolhattál teljesen.

Innen Armadale volt a következő úticélunk, a spirituális otthona a MacDonalds klánnak. Ez volt az első alkalom hosszú idő óta, hogy olyan helyre mentünk, ahol belépő volt. De annyira jó érzés volt múzeumba menni, hogy még a maszkról is elfeletkeztél egy pillanatra. Nem is tudom, mikor voltunk utoljára múzeumban. A kastély sajnos leégett 1855-ben, de így is látszott, milyen monumentális volt anno, milyen lenyűgöző az elhelyezkedése, a parkja. A múzeumban végre kiderült számomra mi is az a Targe, miről szól a dal Whisky in the Jar, illetve hogy az a szó, hogy bárd kényleg létezik.

Még felmentünk Portree-be, ami a legnagyobb város a szigeten, egyben a központja is, itt láttuk szerintem a legtöbb embert az egész egy hetes útunk során.

Mindenképp jó lenne valamikor hosszabb időre Skye-ra visszatérni, még sok minden vár felfedezésre.

Although our trip has finished weeks ago, but I still would like to tell many things.

Skye is the biggest island of the Inner Hebrides, it is approx 60 miles long, it is not for a one day adventure, I think. Every corner of the island is coming back in a Scottish dance title. Here you can find Broadford Bay, Sgurr Alasdair, Cuillins of Skye and the famous Sands of Morar as well. I came to visit here first 2003 with my friend Zsófi and a friend from England, the most I can remember although midges were everywhere but the landscape was unbelievable. Sometimes we felt as we were on the Moon.

I was thinking to Zsófi when I saw again the bridge. Phill has never been on Skye before but his kilt is an Isle of Skye one. When we planed our trip for the day, I told Phill that I found a "little loop" on the peninsula closest to the bridge, which had three castle marked as well. He told me it is not a little loop, but then he agreed to do this 50 miles castle trip. Our first stop was the Dunsgiath Castle, we took a little walk to get to the ruins. And the best thing was, although the whole island built on tourism, here were hardly anybody, only one other couple was sitting on the edge of the rocks and admiring the view. You could just switch off completely.

From here we went to Armadale, which is the spiritual home of the MacDonalds clan. This was the first occasion for a long time that we went to somewhere where you have to buy an entrance ticket. It was such a good feeling to be able to go to a museum, I even forget the fact that we were wearing masks. I have no idea when we were last in a museum. The castle was unfortunately burnt down in 1855, but still you could see how monumental it was, how beautiful the location and the park is. In the museum I learnt finally, what a Targe is, what the song Whisky in the Jar is about, and that the word bard is really existing.

Then we drove up to Portree, which is the largest town and the capital of the island, I think here we saw the most people throughout our whole one week trip.

It would be really good if we could return to Skye for longer next time, there are still so many things to explore.
