Carlo kálváriája - Carlo's ordeal

Carlo a háztartásunk része volt szeptember óta. Ezt úgy kell érteni, hogy azok, akik egyedül élnek, azoknak lehetőségük van egy úgy nevezett 'kiterjesztett háztartást' létrehozni, buborékot. Nagyon sokat adott mindnyájunknak, hogy tudtunk egymással házon belül is találkozni, mert azért az időjárás, ahogy hidegbe fordult, már nem igazán tudtunk volna hosszasan kint időzni. Hetente együtt vacsoráztunk és láttuk, ahogy Carlo végre kicsit ki tud kapcsolni egy-egy munkás hét után.

Aztán eljött az év vége és eljött a hazaköltözésének az ideje. Készen állt minden, csomagok összekészítve, autó eladva, búcsú ebéd, lakás kiürítve, ez volt szombaton december 19-én. Azonban azt ekkor még nem  tudtuk, hogy a kora esti órákban elsőként Hollandia bejelenti, hogy az új vírus mutáció miatt, nem fogad gépeket Nagy-Britanniából. Carlo Amszterdamon keresztül utazott volna vasárnap. Új útvonal, Londonon és Münchenen keresztül 21-re, majd Németország is lezárja az utat a brit utasok előtt. Kedden, 22-én, az olasz konzulátus közli, január 6-ka előtt nem fogja tudni elhagyni az országot.

Szerdán Carlonak azonnal a reptérre kell mennie, mert ha negatív tesztet produkál, akkor mégis el tud utazni, mert Amszterdam megnyitotta az utat az átszálló utasok részére. 24-re foglalnak jegyet, de addigra nem lenne meg az eredmény, így átteszik a jegyet 25-re.

A sok izgalom és egy negatív teszt eredmény után, december 25-én Carlo végre hazatért a családjához. Ez a mi karácsonyi csodánk.

Carlo was part of our household since September. It means that in the UK if you are living on your own, you are allowed to form a so called 'extended household' to make your social bubble. It was giving us as well a lot, that in this way we could meet in each others house, as the weather turned to cold we could not spend too much time outside. On our weekly dinners we experienced how Carlo was finally able to relax a bit after his working week.

Then came the end of the year and time of his moving back to Italy. Everything was ready, baggage packed, car was sold, we had our farewell lunch, flat was emptied, this was on Saturday on the 19th December. But we didn't know at this time, that in the early evening hours the Netherlands will announce that no flights can land from the UK because of the new virus variant. Carlo's flight on Sunday was supposed to go through Amsterdam. New schedule for Monday through London and Munich, but by then Germany closed the airports in front of the British passengers. On Tuesday, the 22nd, the Italian consulate informed Carlo, he won't be able to leave the country before the 6th January.

On Wednesday Carlo had to go to the airport immediately, if he had a negative virus test, he could fly out as Amsterdam opened the airport for transit passengers. His new reservation is for the 24th, but his result would not arrive by then so he is re-booked to the 25th. 

After all of these worries and a negative test result, on the 25th December Carlo finally managed to return to his family. This is our Christmas magic.
