Az északi oldalon - On the North

Csütörtökön egy nagy túrára indultunk, hogy felfedezzük a sziget északi oldalát, nem is tudok sokat írni a különböző helyekről, mert a többsége "csak" csodás táj.

Első megállónk a Tündér-völgy volt. Mintha egy mesekönyv lapjára léptünk volna. Csodálatos formájú dombok, fény-árnyékjáték minden felületen és valami határtalan nyugalom, ami itt megszállt minket.

Majd a dinoszaruszok nyomába eredtünk és az An Corran strandon kerestük a lábnyomaikat. Találtunk is kettőt biztosan. A tájékozató szerint 166 millió évvel ezelőtt, amikor Skye még az egyenlítőnél volt része az ősi kontinensnek, húsevő Megalosaurusok jártak itt, ahol ma mi is. 3 méter magas és 9 m hosszúak voltak ezek a dinók, hihetetlen, hogy a nyomuk most is itt van. Csak azt az egyet sajnálom, hogy a házi geológusom, nem lehetett velem, aki biztos még ezer érdekes dolgot talált volna és magyarázott volna el!

Innen kezdve csak követtük az utat és csak ámoltunk a vízeséseken, a kilt sziklákon, a kilátásra a szárazföldre, a hegyvonulatokra, strandokra tökéletes napsütésben. 

Be kell valljam ez az északi út volt a kedvenc részem és ha még visszatérünk máskor a szigetre, ezt a részt szeretném jobban megismerni.

Tündér-völgy / Fairy Glen

An Corran Beach

On Thursday we went on a long trip to explore the North side of the island, I cannot really write a lot from the different places as they were "only" beautiful landscapes.

Our first stop was the Fairy Glen. It was like to step on the page of a fairy tale book. Beautifully shaped hills, light-shadow play on every surface and something incredible peace, we felt here. 

Then we went for dinosaur hunt and we were looking for their footprints on the An Corran Beach. We definitely found two. According to the information board 166 million years ago, when Skye was part of an ancient continent at the equator, meat-eating Magalosaurus dinosaurs were walking here, where we are today. They were 3 m tall and over 9 m long, it is so unbelievable that their trace is still here. I was feeling sorry about only one thing, that my private Geologist could not have been with me, who probably could find a thousand other interesting thing and explained it to me.

From here we were just follow the road and got amazed by the waterfalls, the Kilt Rocks, the view to the mainland, the mountain ranges, the beaches in the perfect sunshine.

I have to admit, this trip to the North was my favourite part and if we returned one day, I would like to explore this bit more.
